Crouch End oral surgery treatment options

Committed to dental excellence

Oral surgery in a nutshell

  • Multi-disciplines – oral surgery encompasses a range of treatments offered by dentists, oral surgeons and maxillofacial surgeons relating to the mouth, and in particular the teeth, gums or jaw

  • It’s all in a day’s work - routine treatments such as tooth extractions are commonly carried out by our dentists under local anaesthetic

  • Call in the experts - more complex treatments including dental implants and jaw disorders are referred to our specialist consultants and surgeons

  • Teamwork – maxillofacial (face and jaw) work can involve our oral and orthodontic specialists collaborating to ensure patients receive the most appropriate dental care for the best possible outcome

Duration of treatment

  • Depends on the complexity of your surgery. Typically tooth extractions take around 20 minutes and dental implants under an hour per implant.

Cost of oral surgery

  • Costs will be detailed in our treatment plan. We provide flexible finance and payment options to help you spread the costs.

What is oral surgery and when is it required?

Oral surgery relates to surgery involving the mouth, namely the teeth, gums and jaw and may include:

  • Impacted wisdom teeth – This is where a wisdom tooth fails to erupt through the gums or gets stuck causing pain, swelling and sometimes infection.

  • Dental implants – Dental implants are artificial tooth roots surgically implanted into the bone in the jaw. They fuse with the bone to create a stable platform to support a dental crown, bridge or denture.

  • Jaw-related problems – Temporomandibular jaw pain (TMJ) or dysfunction or incorrect jaw position may require surgical intervention.

  • Facial injuries – Oral surgeons may also repair broken facial bones or repair fractured jaws.

Before any treatment, we’ll explain your options and answer any questions you may have. You may need local or general anaesthetic for your oral surgery in Crouch End. Our specialists will usually treat you in their local practice but on occasion, the procedure may be carried out in a hospital setting.

We will ensure that you fully understand the specifics of your treatment plan before any procedures are carried out. If you need more information about oral surgery at Crouch Hall Dental Care please call the practice on 0208 340 1453.

Who will perform my oral surgery at Crouch Hall?

Routine procedures such as tooth extractions and straightforward wisdom teeth extractions are carried out by our general dentists.

More complex treatments are performed by our team of specialist oral and maxillofacial surgeons who have completed 4 years of dental training followed by an additional four to six years of surgical training. You couldn’t be in better hands.

In fact, Mr Simon Critchlow, whose particular area of interest is dental implants and prosthodontics (replacing missing teeth and soft tissues), has been awarded the Fellowship in Dental Surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons – the highest qualification available in the UK.

What about nervous patients?
